# Dispatch changesets and audit

Dispatch uses a **preview → apply → undo** workflow so you can review changes before they take effect.

## What is a changeset?

A changeset is a batch of proposed changes to the day's dispatch schedule. When you use AI features, reassign teams, or reorder jobs, Dispatch shows you what will change before committing.

## Action types

Changesets can include any of these actions:

* **Mark completed** — complete a job from Dispatch
* **Reschedule** — move a job to a different date or time
* **Assign team** — move a job to a different crew
* **Cancel occurrence** — cancel a specific visit
* **Optimize crew route** — reorder a single crew's jobs for efficient travel
* **Optimize day plan** — reorder all crews' jobs across the entire day

## How it works

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Make changes

Use AI tools, drag jobs between teams, or make manual adjustments in [Dispatch →](https://shortcutco.com/dispatch).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Preview

Dispatch shows a summary of all proposed changes with before/after details.

<figure><img src="/files/Mh8TWgvlX5R7CaC4dMp6" alt="Dispatch board used to review route changes"><figcaption><p>Review schedule changes before applying them to the day.</p></figcaption></figure>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Apply

Confirm the changeset to commit all changes at once.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Undo (if needed)

If something went wrong, you can undo the changeset to revert to the previous state.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Audit trail

Every changeset records:

* **Before state** — what the schedule looked like before
* **After state** — what it looks like now
* **Who made the change** — which admin applied it
* **When** — timestamp of the change

{% hint style="info" %}
The changeset preview is the safety net — you'll never accidentally reassign an entire day's jobs without seeing the impact first.
{% endhint %}
