# Route map (reading the day's routes)

The route map plots the day you're looking at — every crew's run, in order, with the yard marked by a home icon. Open it from the Dispatch toolbar.

## Reading the map

Stops show as numbered discs in their crew's color, in the order the crew will drive them.

When stops are genuinely piled on top of each other, they collapse into a **grey count bubble** so the map stays readable. This is about crowding, not zoom level: a quiet day with two tidy routes never bubbles, and a busy downtown block does. **Click a bubble to zoom into it.**

* It takes **three or more** crowded stops to make a bubble — two neighbouring houses stay two numbered stops.
* Two jobs at one address (a duplex, an apartment block) still show as a "2." No amount of zooming would separate them.
* Making the map panel bigger genuinely declutters it — bubbles break apart as the stops get room, not just as you zoom.
* A bubble never covers a stop or another bubble.

## Hovering and clicking

Hover a route or a stop and everything else fades back, so the run you're pointing at stands out without anything moving under your cursor. A small card names the crew, the customer, and the stop number.

Click a crew to **focus** it. The map frames that crew's whole run, the other crews shrink to dim dots, and their count bubbles dim too. Hover any dimmed crew to bring it back to full strength without losing your place.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Focused on one crew and the other routes disappeared?** That's on purpose. When you focus a crew on a wide view, Shortcut only draws that crew's route line — the other crews' stops are still there as dim dots, but their lines aren't drawn. Click away from the crew to get everything back.
{% endhint %}

A crew whose stops are spread across town gets framed edge to edge, which means its stops may sit close together on screen. The numbers can overlap at that distance — zoom in and they separate.

## The map and the plan table together

The map and the list beside it stay pointed at the same work:

* **Click a job in the table** — the map highlights that stop and zooms to its route.
* **Hover a job or a crew in the table** — the matching stop and route highlight on the map.
* The active job is highlighted in **both** places at once.
* Clicking a row you can already see no longer scrolls the list, so the job doesn't move out from under your click. Selections coming from the map still scroll the row into view.
