# Views, filters, and columns

Change the date, narrow the board with filters, pick your columns, and save the setup as a view you can come back to or share.

Dispatch shows a lot. This page is about showing only what you need.

## Changing the date

The **date chip** is the first chip in the filter row. The ◀ ▶ arrows on either side step one day at a time. Click the chip itself for more choices:

* **Today**
* **This week**
* **Last 14 days**
* **Custom range** — pick a start and end date on the calendar and click **Apply**
* **Unscheduled** — jobs with no date

Once you're on a range, the arrows step by that range: a week at a time on **This week**, and so on.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Ranges are for looking, not for ordering.** On a multi-day range you'll see each crew's lane split by day, but you can't drag to reorder until you're back on a single day. Printing is also single-day only.
{% endhint %}

On the **Close out** tab the shortcut says **Yesterday** instead of **Today**, because that's the day you're usually closing out.

## The filter row

Four chips are always there: **Date**, **Status**, **Team**, and **Service**. Click any of them to choose values; an active chip shows what it's filtering (for example **Status: Scheduled + 2**) and has an ✕ to clear it. Each status has its own small icon, the same one you see beside each customer name on the board.

**All filters** opens the full list:

| Filter | What you can pick |
| ----------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Status** | Scheduled, Rescheduled, Needs reschedule, Skipped, Unscheduled, Completed, Canceled |
| **Team** | Any crew (plus **No crew**, when the board has unassigned stops) |
| **Services** | Any service on the board |
| **Tags**          | Any [customer tag](/readme/leads-prospects-customers/customer-tags.md)                                                                     |
| **Last serviced** | Any · 7+ days · 14+ days · 30+ days · Never serviced                                                                                       |
| **Round** | Chemical program rounds, when you run programs |
| **Due**           | Past due · Today · Next 7 days · Next 30 days · This week · This month (chemical work)                                                     |
| **Red flags** | No crew, Past scheduled, Missing coordinates, Chemical due, Double-booked, Needs reschedule, Skipped, Additional workday, Negative balance |

If you run snow removal, the menu also has **All filters → Snow**, for dispatching a snow event. See [Snow removal](/readme/snow-removal.md#on-a-snow-day-dispatch-from-the-snow-filter).

**Clear all filters** at the bottom of the menu resets every filter except the date.

More chips appear on their own when they apply: **Map area**, after you draw an area on the [map](/readme/dispatch/route-map.md); **Snow**, while a snow filter is on; and any **custom field** filter that came with a saved view.

**Search** is the box at the left of the row. It filters as you type and matches customer names and addresses. It looks across every date, so a customer whose next visit is three weeks out still shows up.

### Clear filters

As soon as a tab differs from how it was saved, a **Clear filters** button appears next to **All filters**. Click it to put the tab back: its saved filters, columns, and grouping return, and you stay on the same day. The button disappears once the tab matches its saved version again, so seeing it is also your sign that you've changed something.

## Grouping

The **Group** button on the right of the filter row chooses how rows are bunched:

* **Team** — one lane per crew, with **Unassigned** last. This is the default and the only grouping where you can drag to reorder.
* **Status** — lanes for Scheduled, Completed, Skipped, and so on.
* **Red flag** — lanes by problem, handy on the Needs attention tab.
* **No grouping** — one flat list.

Click a lane's name to collapse it. Collapsed lanes stay collapsed as you scroll.

## Columns

Click **Columns** to switch columns on and off and drag them into order. The customer column is always shown. Beyond the defaults (**Client**, **Service**, **Crew**, **Last service**, **Category**, **Amount**, **Total**), you can add:

* **City**, **Date**, **Attention date**, **Appointment window**, **Property measurement**
* **Red flags**, **Operational notes**, **Products**, **Photos**
* **Budgeted person-hours**, **Actual person-hours**, **Variance**, **Planned crew**, **Actual crew**, and the average of the last five visits, if you track crew hours with [Time Clock](/readme/time-clock-and-timesheets.md)
* **Product total**, **Account balance** (shows the balance, and the past-due amount in red if there is one)
* Any [custom fields](/readme/configuration/custom-fields.md) you've set up

Drag a column's edge to resize it. Click a column header to sort, move, or hide that column, or choose **Restore route order** to get back to the driving order. Sorting is temporary: it sorts within each crew's lane and isn't saved with the view.

## Saved views

A **view** is a saved combination of date range, filters, grouping, and columns. The four tabs (**Scheduled**, **Needs attention**, **Unscheduled**, **Close out**) are built-in views you can't delete, but you can change their columns and grouping and Dispatch remembers that for you.

**To save your own view:** set the board up how you want it, then open **⋯ → Save as new view**, give it a name, and click **Save as view**. It appears as a new tab after the built-in four. When you change a view, an amber **"View edited. Save?"** appears in the header with **Save**, **Save as new view**, and **Discard changes**. **Clear filters** in the filter row does the same as **Discard changes**.

Ideas that work well: *"VIP customers"* (a Tags filter), *"Overdue mowing"* (Service + Last serviced 14+ days), *"Chemical this week"* (Round + This week).

**To share a view:** open it and choose **⋯ → Share**. Tick the people who should get it and click **Send copies**. Each person gets their **own copy**: their edits stay theirs and yours stay yours. They'll see a note the next time they open Dispatch, with **Open** and **Later**.

**To delete a view you made:** open it and choose **⋯ → Delete view**.
