# Refunds & credit memos

Made a mistake, or a customer deserves money back? Open the invoice and issue an adjustment:

* **Refund** — money back. Card payments are refunded through Stripe automatically; offline payments (check/cash) are recorded as refunded so your books stay right (you hand back the cash yourself).
* **Credit memo** — reduce what's owed without moving money.

Refunds and credits sync to QuickBooks if you've [connected it](/readme/configuration/quickbooks-integration.md).
