# 1) Set up Shortcut for your business

**Outcome:** Your account is ready to send proposals and collect payments.

## What you'll do

* Choose how you want to get paid (Stripe recommended)
* Check that you have at least one service
* (Optional) Invite your team

## Steps

### Open Settings

Click your name at the bottom-left of the sidebar, then click **Settings**. Settings has its own sidebar with five groups; the steps below use it.

### Choose how you get paid

Open **Customers → Customer payments**. You can:

* take payments online with **Stripe** (recommended), or
* collect checks, cash or bank transfers yourself and mark invoices paid in Shortcut. Write what customers should do in **Offline payment instructions**; they see it on their invoices.

### Connect Stripe

If using Stripe, click **Connect Stripe** and complete setup in Stripe.

### Confirm services

Open **Operations → Services** and confirm you have at least one service created. [Open Services →](https://shortcutco.com/settings/services)

### (Optional) Invite your team

Open **Workspace → Teams** to set up your crew(s), then **Workspace → Users** to invite people. [Open Users →](https://shortcutco.com/settings/users) Once invited, your team signs in with the same email and password on the web or in the [mobile app](/readme/mobile-app.md).

### About billing

## Expected result

* Stripe shows as connected (if you chose Stripe)
* At least one service exists
