# Later (optional): Customize automations
Once your basics are working, Automations can follow up for you: reminders, overdue invoices, estimate follow-ups, win-back offers, and tasks for your team.
Open **Settings → Operations → Automations**. To open Settings, click your name at the bottom-left of the sidebar, then **Settings**. [Open Automations →](https://shortcutco.com/settings/automations)
Shortcut already sends a set of built-in messages, like proposal notices, visit confirmations, the day-before reminder, and payment receipts. You'll find them on the Automations list with a **Library** badge. From there you can:
* turn a built-in message on or off (**⋮ → Activate** / **Deactivate…**), or open it to change the wording
* start a **campaign** from a template on the **Templates** tab, like **Overdue invoice recovery** or **Estimate follow-up**
* build your own with **New campaign**: pick how it starts, add steps, send yourself a test, then **Review & publish**
Nothing sends until you publish, and every message a campaign sends is recorded so you can see exactly what went out.
A new campaign starts when something happens, when customers meet conditions, or on a date or schedule.
